Sodom: Hard To Believe This Was Once Lush, Verdant Fields

Abraham and Lot decided to part ways because their holdings had become so large. Lot chose the land around the Dead Sea, which was a fresh water lake at the time.
It’s hard to imagine that this land was once lush verdant fields for flocks and crops.

“And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan,
that it was well watered every where,
before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah,
EVEN AS THE GARDEN OF THE LORD,
like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar…”

“Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan,
and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.”
Genesis 13:10-12
